🚨 Enhanced health, pregnancy and maternity protection for professional women's football players


⚖️ On October 2021, the Executive Committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) approved the creation of the Federal Commission for High-Level Women's Football. Subsequently, the FFF Executive Committee announced their development plan for higher-level women's football on 13 April 2023, concretised by the FFF Federal Assembly on 10 June 2023, approving the creation of an internal FFF Women's Professional Football League (LFFP) from 1 July 2024.


On 1 March 2024, the national organisation Foot Unis and and the U2C2F announced that they would adopt the employers' recommendation concerning the protection of professional female players linked to D1 Arkema and D2 employer clubs in the event of pregnancy and injury. Following this decision, and according to the specific fixed-term employment contracts, the employer will have to undertake in particular to :


- guarantee that the salary be maintained for 90 days, without any seniority requirement or "carence" period, in case of work cease or maternity leave;


- supplement up to 4 times the social security benefit ceiling during the 16 weeks of statutory maternity leave and over the 3 months following pregnancy; and


- adopt the general subrogation mechanism;


subject to the provisions of the LFFP collective agreement currently under negotiation.
